
Easy and Amazing Cold Brew Coffee
Here's our tried-and-true method for amazing cold brew coffee using the Toddy system. We have experimented with different grinds and brew lengths to get the perfect taste! We think the 18-hr brew is best, which is convenient timing as well - start a batch around 1pm-3pm to enjoy with breakfast the next morning.
Dave's Perfect Cold Brew Method:
- Put plug and filter in bottom and add one full pound of coarse ground coffee. (Yep, the whole 16 oz bag! Order our favorite Toddy blend here and select coarse grind at checkout.)
- Add water (if you have a spray nozzle on your sink, that works great for aerating the grounds). Fill to about 3/4 and let the foam settle a bit so it doesn’t overflow, then top off with water.
- Steep for 18 hours at room temperature.
- Holding over the decanter, pull the plug and let drain into decanter (usually takes up to 2 hrs) until dripping has stopped.
- Store concentrate in refrigerator. Enjoy for up to 2 weeks – to dilute, we recommend starting with 1 part cold brew concentrate to 2 parts water and cream.
The concentrate is very strong, similar to espresso, but less acidic and very smooth. Clean the filter by rinsing with water (run the water opposite the way it was drained). If cleaned well and dried between uses, the filter can be used at least ten times.
